PittPantherLogoAccording to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Pittsburgh G/F Gilbert Brown has been suspended for the fall semester by the large__HPB2847University of Pittsburgh.  His suspension is due to academic reasons.  He may be eligible to rejoin the Panthers on December 20th.

Brown a 6’6″ redshirt junior from Harrisburg, PA started in 15 games last year, and played in 37.  He is also Pitts most experienced player.

imagesIn the last post we talked about schools talking actions against players.  Here you go.  Granted there is nothing criminal about academic struggles; however, it is good to see that players are being treated as students and are therefore held accountable for their performances in the classroom.

Minus a potential match-up against Texas at the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic Pittsburgh should have no problems with their out of conference schedule.  Still not having Brown getting game time before the Big East schedule hits does hurt.  We wish Gilbert Brown good luck in the classroom and hope to see him out on the court this winter.
